Math Foundations

A small group tutoring program providing customized support and interactive learning experiences for 2nd – 5th grade learners.

What if math could become a source of pride and joy for your child without the frustration and anxiety?

Maybe one of these sounds familiar…

You’ve noticed your child struggle with math homework and when you try to help, it typically ends up adding to the frustration.

You worry about the toll your child’s difficulty in math has taken on their confidence, and you want to do everything you can to empower them as a learner.

You know your child gets easily distracted during math, and you wonder if your child is really understanding what they’re learning in school.

And the more you see them struggling, the more you wonder how it’s affecting their love of learning in the long run.

You know your child has some challenges, but there are so many areas where they shine.

And while you’re so grateful for the care and connection your child gets at school, you wonder if they sometimes have trouble keeping up in what can be a fast-moving environment.

You’re starting to see that your child could benefit from some more individualized support where learning is different and engaging.

Because with the right type of guidance and environment, you know your child could…

👉🏼 Feel empowered to work through their challenges in math

👉🏼 Minimize their anxiety and frustration with school and homework

👉🏼 Reignite their interest in learning

Here’s where we come in to support you and your child….

Math Foundations Sit Beside Fort Worth

Math Foundations provides customized math support that celebrates your child’s unique learning profile and empowers their growth.

This program provides opportunities for your child to explore their strengths as a learner while also supporting areas where they need improvement.

Inside our small group setting, learners receive hands-on learning experiences with structured flexible pacing that’s built-in with each activity.

Because every child, regardless of their learning differences, deserves an opportunity to learn and succeed.

Math Foundations provides an environment where learners can…

Experience Hands-On Learning

Our learning is energetic, interactive, and sometimes a little bit messy. It’s all designed to ensure that your child has the space they need to stretch, grow, make mistakes, and learn from them.

Practice skills that transfer to classroom learning

Your child will receive more individualized attention than in a regular classroom while also practicing the skills they need to succeed in the classroom environment.

Collaborate with other learners with similar needs

Your child will have the opportunity to build relationships with learners experiencing some of the same struggles and practice collaborative team work while working toward academic goals.

Build confidence in their math skills

We’ll explore lots of ways for your child to utilize their strengths to understand and master the foundational math concepts we’ll be covering.

Jennifer has the innate ability to see a child’s strengths and weaknesses, but she doesn’t let those weaknesses hold a child back.”

After only a few weeks of teaching our son, Jennifer realized that something was holding him back from getting his work done and that he was easily distracted. After getting our son tested for ADHD, Jennifer was more than willing to try new teaching methods and accommodate his needs as we learned them. She has the innate ability to see a child’s strengths and weaknesses, but she doesn’t let those weaknesses hold a child back. She cares deeply about children and their education and will give your child an experience that will make them want to learn and grow and come back for more!

“Our son’s confidence in his learning has only increased, thanks to Ms. Hannah!”

“More than anything, we wanted to help our son nurture a love of learning. We knew our son would need a teacher who thinks outside the box and provided lots of opportunities for intellectual exploration. And that’s exactly what we got when we started working with Ms. Hannah. She created an environment where kids felt safe to stretch and grow and tumble and fall and get up and keep on going.  Our son came home excited every day and could not wait to tell us about what he’d learned. Our son’s confidence in his learning has only increased, thanks to Ms. Hannah.”

I know how confusing and frustrating math can be, but together we’ll take on complex math problems in simple steps and find out how fun and interesting math can be.

I created Sit Beside to provide tutoring for learners who needed more individual support and a learning experience tailored to their needs. It’s my mission to create a safe haven for your child to feel validated, try new things, and nurture a love of learning. I would be honored to serve your child and help them achieve their potential while affirming their strengths. Let’s partner together and find out what your child is capable of.

Hi, I’m Jennifer!

Learning Support Specialist and Owner of Sit Beside

One reason why I'm so passionate about helping students experiencing challenges in math is because growing up, I was just like them. Math class moved too quickly, and everyone seemed to know something I didn't. It was as if numbers magically made sense to them in a way they never did to me.

I struggled with multiplication and division facts well into middle school. It wasn't until I was a student teacher that I realized why long division worked! I've come a long way with my multiplication facts since then. I even have a favorite one, 7x8=56!

“After one session with Jennifer, our daughter's confidence soared!”

“Our daughter was frustrated with her math homework. We tried to help her ourselves, but that just added to her frustration. She needed help; we needed help! After one session with Jennifer, our daughter's confidence soared! Jennifer was able to quickly address our daughter’s needs and provide support that reinforced what she already learned and then gave her confidence going into the next lesson. If your child needs extra support, do not delay another day! You will see your child’s frustration melt away, and their confidence boosted immediately!”

Here are some frequently asked questions about the Math Foundations Program…

  • Group learning support provides many benefits that aren’t accessible in a private tutoring setting. Small group learning at Sit Beside…

👉🏼 Provides more opportunities for learners to be introduced to ideas through peer conversations about math concepts than they would working one-on-one with an adult

👉🏼 Allows for learners’ strengths to be highlighted within a group context

👉🏼 Makes learning much more fun and engaging

  • In the first few weeks of the program, Ms. Hannah will evaluate the needs of the group and then for the rest of the sessions we’ll work toward mastery in those specific areas. Some of the skills and concepts where many learners need support are math fact fluency, computation strategies, and foundational concepts embedded in word problems. You’ll have the opportunity to share your child’s specific learning goals with me in your pre-consultation call.

  • This program is designed for 2nd to 5th grade learners and focuses on the foundational skills that will support their learning in the 2nd to 5th grade classroom.

  • You’ll receive an email update each week detailing the concepts and skills we will cover in your child’s Math Foundations group. Often these updates will include explanations of math concepts for you to reference while supporting your child at home. As well as math games or strategies to support fact fluency.

  • Math Foundations provides time at the start of each session to complete homework and clarify misconceptions. The amount of time dedicated to homework fluctuates depending on the small group’s needs.

  • This program is designed to serve all unique learning profiles including learners with dyscalculia, dyslexia, dysgraphia, ADHD, Auditory Processing Disorder, etc. It’s also led by Jennifer Hannah, owner and learning support specialist at Sit Beside, who has extensive experience through both her graduate work and teaching background in working with children who have learning differences.
